Yumbu Lhakhang symbolizes the rise of not only Tibetan emperors but also the birth of Tibet as a nation. It is a remembrance and tribute to our great civilization which started 2315 years ago in 127 B.C. When the first king of Tibet built it, all saw it as a mark of the rise of the great powers of Tibetan nation. Buddhism’s first initiation in Tibet also started in the Palace of Yumbul Lhakhhang during the 28th king. By symbolizing Nyatri House, we pay honour to this great historical landmark of Tibet that has brought both religious and political prosperity to Tibet.
